The limestone … Read more Painted on the Big Indian Creek Road in Franklin County, Missouri, the sun beats down on the road. The limestone gravel looks like a bleached white gray sheet. The lush leafy trees are deep green and the shadows ten toward violet in the brilliant sun. This is Marina's variety painting retreat. The painting was created on a birch panel, the traditional support for plein air and measures 12x16 inches. The elegant frame have over dimensions of 17 and 1/4 by 21 and 1/4 inches. The wide frame features raised bronze gold oval lozenges and a black band framing the design.

Marina Movshina is an American artist known for landscape painting, and for her illustrations of children’s books, as well as her botanicals. Her paintings have been selected for the exhibition of distinguished alumni at Carnegie-Mellon’s Centennial Celebration of its College of Fine Art, the Logan Center at the University of Chicago and the Harlin Museum in West Plains, MO. An elected artist member of the American Artists’ Professional League, New York, NY, she is admired for her skill as a painter and draftsman in the handling of space, depiction of light, and expert use of color. She received a B.F.A. from Carnegie-Mellon University and studied at the Art Students’ League, New York, NY, Washington University, St. Louis, MO, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL. Marina lives in St. Louis, MO.
