A richly detailed depiction of the scene in bold colours, set upon a heavy rock plinth with subtle gold highlights. Designer: johann joachim kaendler (1706 - 1775) chief sculptor at the meissen manufactory from 1742 to 1775. He is the most famous modeller meissen manufactory ever had and created famous series such as shepherd figurines, comedian's children, gardener children (with acier), paris town criers (with reinicke and meyer), gallant figurines, etc. Design of the model around 1764 manufactory: meissen dating: made circa 1860 material: hand-made, multicolored porcelain, glossy finish size: height: 40,5 cm / 15.94 in width: 16,5 cm / 6.49 in depth: 23,0 cm / 9.05 in marks: undeglaze blue meissen sword mark of 19th century / first quality model number a 43 b / former's number 101 / painter's number 21 bibliography: thomas & sabine bergmann, meissen - figures, model numbers a 1 - z 99, erlangen germany 2014, catalogue number 529 on page 266.
