The chandelier is organized around a tall architectural walnut central column from which four polished chrome arms extend horizontally. Each arm terminates in a circular walnut platform supporting a generously proportioned opaline glass shade. A fifth spherical opaline glass globe positioned beneath the central body completes the composition. The design is particularly successful in its interplay of materials. The warmth and natural grain of the walnut contrast with the crisp reflective surfaces of the chrome, while the softly curved opaline glass introduces an elegant visual softness to the otherwise strongly geometric structure. Its symmetrical construction, combination of traditional materials with polished metal, and streamlined geometric vocabulary are characteristic of czechoslovak art deco and early modernist design of the 1930s. When illuminated, the five opaline glass elements provide a warm diffused light and emphasize the chandelier’s sculptural architecture, making it equally suitable as functional lighting and as a statement piece for a sophisticated interior. The chandelier has been carefully refurbished while retaining its original vintage character. The walnut elements have been restored, the chrome-plated components carefully cleaned and polished, and the electrical system completely renewed. Minor signs of use and age remain consistent with a piece of this period. The chandelier accommodates 5 × e26/e27 bulbs and is compatible with both european and us bulbs.
