The vase features delicate cobalt-blue seagulls in flight against a softly shaded blue ground. The upper section is enhanced with the characteristic embossed fish-scale relief, creating a subtle three-dimensional texture across the porcelain. Fine hand-applied gilt details accent the seagulls and the rim, adding an elegant touch to the otherwise restrained blue-and-white palette. The seagull pattern is one of bing & gröndahl’s most recognizable designs and is considered an important example of danish porcelain decoration. The combination of the maritime-inspired relief, graceful flying birds and restrained gilding gives this vase a particularly refined and timeless appearance. Gold decoration the gilt decoration is very well preserved, with only minimal signs of wear. The gold rim remains largely intact and retains its original lustre, suggesting that the vase has been carefully used and handled. Markings the underside is fully stamped “copenhagen porcelain / made in denmark”, with the bing & gröndahl three-tower mark. The vase is marked model number 678 and also bears the additional painted/handwritten decorator's marks visible in the photographs, both the guilder's and the decorator's marks. The three green towers are not crossed through, indicating first quality. Period circa 1970–1983, based on the bing & gröndahl mark used during this period. Design the seagull service was created from an original design by fanny garde, whose decoration was introduced in 1895. The distinctive sculptural fish-scale relief and maritime character became hallmarks of the mågestellet pattern and have made it one of bing & gröndahl's most enduring porcelain designs. Dimensions height: 13.5 cm diameter: 7.5 cm a particularly elegant example of vintage danish porcelain, combining the iconic bing & gröndahl seagull decoration with sculptural relief and restrained gilding.
