Crafted in France during the mid-1970s, the table is uniquely constructed from dense, deeply figured palm wood, a highly demanding material chosen for its striking, fibrous end-grain texture and rich tortoiseshell-like coloration. The design relies entirely on powerful, monolithic geometry. The thick, rectilinear plank top is supported by four massive, cylindrical pillar legs. Each leg is left wide and robust to ground the structure, highlighting the linear, highly tactile grain characteristic of the exotic palm specimen. Its understated architectural form carries clear stylistic influences of late 20th-century masters like Pierre Chapo and Charlotte Perriand, making it equally well-suited as a sculptural dining table or an imposing executive desk.
