Artisan-crafted in France from solid beechwood, the piece is both functional seating and a decorative focal point.
The hand-carved frame displays traditional Louis XVI details, including fluted legs, carved rosettes, floral and ribbon ornamentation, and balanced architectural lines. A hand-applied gold-leaf finish enhances the carved details and gives the frame a softly luminous appearance with subtle variations characteristic of artisan finishing.
A particularly attractive feature is the decorative backrest. It is upholstered in a silk-cotton fabric featuring a romantic countryside scene with pastoral landscapes and elegantly dressed figures. The scene is pressed directly onto the fabric and is not hand-painted, allowing for fine pictorial detail and subtle tonal variation.
The seat is upholstered in soft beige velvet with deep button tufting, providing comfortable seating while creating an elegant contrast with the gilded frame. The combination of gold, neutral velvet and softly colored scenic textile gives the settee a refined French character.
