Presenting a magnificent and exceptionally heavy vintage Chinese gilt cloisonné incense burner, cast in the form of a mythical beast (likely a Luduan or Pixiu).

The beast has a majestic, rounded body intricately decorated with a dense pattern of blue and lavender "fish scale" motifs, set against a deep cobalt ground. Its sides feature highly stylized, multi-colored butterfly or bat-shaped cartouches. The creature features a fierce, highly detailed gilt bronze head with prominent horns, bulging eyes, an open mouth showing teeth, and flaming curly mane.

The head is removable, revealing the hollow interior, making it a functional incense burner. It is supported by four sturdy, golden clawed feet. The most striking feature is the spectacular, heavily gilded, up-curled tail at the back, rendered in a swirling flame-like pattern. The base bears a gilt square seal.
