French Rococo was a rebellion against the Baroque movement and was exceptionally ornamental and theatrical. A style that was developed by craftspeople and designers rather than architects, which explains why it is primarily found in furniture, silver and ceramics. The acanthus leaf was a signature motif as well as the use of "C" and "S" scrolls, serpentine shapes and playful curves.
This 19th century French Rococo-style panel is hand carved with elaborate acanthus foliage and scrolling cartouches. We believe it could've been a trumeau panel, but today would make a stunning statement as a wall hanging or perhaps a headboard. The possibilities are as endless as your imagination.
