An antique full-size violin bearing an interior 'Nicholas Amatus' label and accompanied by a 2002 professional appraisal from Beckett & … Read more An antique full-size violin bearing an interior 'Nicholas Amatus' label and accompanied by a 2002 professional appraisal from Beckett & Blackerby Fine Stringed Instruments of Austin, Texas. The appraisal describes the violin as having a one-piece back of medium-flamed maple, a two-piece medium-grained spruce top, unusually small pointed corners and a deep red varnish bordering on violet. At the time of examination in 2002, Beckett & Blackerby assessed the instrument as being in good overall condition and assigned it a fair-market value of $1,000. The violin is sold with its vintage fitted case and the older 'W. Germany' bow referenced in the appraisal. See less
