Lulua figures were often associated with ancestral and protective traditions, particularly those surrounding fertility, motherhood, childbirth, health, and the well-being of children, with their idealized forms intended to attract and embody benevolent ancestral spirits. The sculpture's timeworn surface is reveals layers of warm earthen-red pigment, exposed wood, mineral-like coloration, age cracks, abrasions, and areas of deep natural erosion that speak to its considerable age and history. Presented on a custom black iron stand, this can now be a sophisticated statement piece for a collector's interior, gallery wall, or curated art collection. See less
