Rare and highly desirable original production lounge set by hans j. Wegner for ap-stolen, denmark, comprising the iconic ap27 lounge chair, affectionately known as the “mama bear,” together with the matching ap29 footstool. This exceptional vintage set showcases wegner’s celebrated approach to scandinavian modernism, combining sculptural organic forms with exceptional craftsmanship and understated elegance. The lounge chair features a generously upholstered, enveloping form with distinctive sculpted wooden armrests, tapered solid-wood legs, and an inviting high back. The accompanying ap29 stool echoes the chair’s proportions and construction, creating a beautifully cohesive pair. The set is particularly desirable because it is from the original production by ap-stolen in denmark and is no longer in production, making authentic examples increasingly difficult to find. The combination of the lounge chair and original matching footstool is especially rare. Both pieces are upholstered in an elegant blue textured wool fabric, complemented by beautifully patinated teak and oak woodwork. The warm natural wood tones provide a striking contrast to the cool blue upholstery while emphasizing the organic character of wegner’s design.
