The … Read more This elegant antique wall mirror was made in Naples in the late 19th century in the Louis XV style. The richly carved wooden frame is distinguished by an elaborate asymmetrical design, with scrolling foliage, rocaille motifs, shell details and a particularly impressive pierced crest rising above the mirror. The elaborate ornamentation continues along the lower section, creating a strong vertical silhouette characteristic of the decorative tradition of the period.

The frame retains its historic silver-leaf gilded finish, now beautifully mellowed with age. The combination of carved wood, intricate openwork decoration and aged gilding gives the mirror a refined yet distinctly antique character.

The original mercury glass is preserved and displays the natural signs of age associated with antique mirror glass, including areas of oxidation and atmospheric variation. These imperfections are an important part of its historical appearance and enhance its authenticity.

The mirror measures approximately 90 × 62 cm, while the overall external dimensions are 126 cm in height and 88 cm in width. The frame projects approximately 25 cm from the wall at its deepest point.
