The serpentine-form top is supported by four curving legs, with the elaborate front supports carved in pronounced C-scroll forms and accented with dimensional roses, floral sprigs and scrolling ornament. A large floral rocaille cartouche anchors the center of the apron, surrounded by graceful molded scrollwork that gives the table a distinctly French and Continental 18th-century-inspired silhouette. The two rear supports are more restrained, allowing the richly carved front elevation to take visual focus. The gold finish displays attractive age-related patina, rubbing, surface wear and areas of finish loss, particularly along the top, edges and high points of the carving. These variations have been retained rather than refinished. See less
