Striking hand-painted ceramic art plate by Kepingke Art, dated 2006, featuring an intricate all-over dot and geometric design in vibrant orange, yellow, turquoise, coral, ochre, white and black.
The slightly curved square form is decorated with concentric circular motifs and densely applied dots and linear patterns, creating a bold, highly graphic piece of contemporary folk and studio art.
The reverse is hand-inscribed “D.W. S.T. KEPINGKE ART N.T. 2006.” The “N.T.” inscription refers to an acclaimed Aboriginal community-owned art center in the Northern Territory (NT) of Australia, however, the artist and precise origin have not been independently verified. For this reason, the piece is described as Aboriginal-inspired rather than attributed to a specific Aboriginal artist or community.
