The work depicts … Read more A beautifully atmospheric Japanese woodblock print of Canal in Osaka, from celebrated Shin-hanga artist Hiroshi Yoshida (1876–1950).

The work depicts boats along a quiet Osaka canal, rendered in Yoshida’s characteristic restrained palette and finely detailed architectural landscape. The lower margin is titled “Canal in Osaka” in pencil and signed “Hiroshi Yoshida” in pencil. A red seal appears within the image.

The print is presented in an unusual older wood frame with its period mounting. The paper exhibits age-related toning and scattered foxing, adding to the character of the piece. The print was carefully documented outside its mat and subsequently returned to the frame. It has not been cleaned, conserved, or restored.
