Monumental in scale yet remarkably graceful in proportion, this impressive piece was conceived not simply as storage furniture, but as an elegant display and serving cabinet for a formal dining room, where desserts, silver, porcelain, crystal, and other treasured objects could be presented to guests.

The sideboard is crowned by a magnificent, generously proportioned shaped white marble top, softly veined in shades of gray and charcoal. Its elongated form follows the sophisticated contours of the cabinet below, with rounded projecting ends and a gently bowed central section. The molded marble edge gives the top a finished architectural quality while providing a durable and luxurious serving surface ideally suited to the presentation of elaborate desserts, fruit, wine, decanters, silver services, and fine tableware.

The warm walnut case provides a striking contrast to the pale marble.
