A captivating turn-of-the-century French Provincial mixed-metal wall mirror, circa 1900.This exquisite piece perfectly bridges the industrial romance of the Aesthetic Movement with the organic lines of early Art Nouveau.
The mirror features a heavily textured, dark distressed cast iron frame that balances dramatic presence with poetic lightness, showcased in the delicate open-scroll cresting along the top boundary. The corners are highlighted by striking, applied brass floral rosettes that add a warm, luminous contrast to the deep iron finish.Adding to its collector value is the highly desirable original mirror glass. The thick glass pane boasts a generous wide bevel and is decorated with a elegant, hand-wheel-engraved floral and foliate spray.
The motif is beautifully reverse-etched from the underside before the silvering process, rendering the front face completely smooth to the touch and perfectly preserving the delicate artistry from surface wear.
A spectacular statement piece for a dressing room, entryway, or powder room, seamlessly coordinating with both rustic European and contemporary eclectic interiors.
Note: Very Heavy - Ensure proper hanging.

T he original beveled glass pane displays light, authentic foxing (antique desilvering spots) scattered behind the surface, serving as a beautiful badge of historical authenticity without compromising the overall clarity of the reflection. The reverse-etched floral wheel engraving remains completely pristine and smooth to the touch on the front face. The name "Steven" is engraved on the back panel wood. less
