A beautiful and authentic period chest, attributed to the Trentino area, likely Val di Sole, recognizable by the typical decoration of large, carved rosettes in relief that characterizes the production of this area. Made of solid wood, it features a splendid honey-colored patina matured over time, enhancing its charm and authenticity. Dimensions: 156 cm wide, 52 cm deep, and 51 cm high. This rustic chest of excellent construction quality was likely intended for weddings or as a trousseau chest. The workmanship is entirely artisanal, with a back panel assembled from planks, hand-forged hardware, sturdy traditional joints, and construction details that demonstrate remarkable craftsmanship. The lock is original and in perfect working order. A key was made using an antique key, which was then carefully adapted to the original lock, restoring its perfect functioning while fully respecting the piece's historic character. The piece underwent careful conservative restoration, limited exclusively to the parts damaged by time. The lower right-hand side cornice was reconstructed, and one of the two rear hinges was replaced, leaving the other original. The entire remaining structure retains its antique material. Inside, the characteristic side compartment is present; the small left-hand internal compartment's door is missing, a detail that was highlighted for maximum transparency. The chest retains the natural signs of aging, small wear, and irregularities typical of an antique piece. The surface was simply revived with a light wax finish, preserving the beautiful original honey-colored patina. See less
