A collectable w.m.f. "ikora" art deco vase featuring shape n° 507 and decor n° 3618. Handcrafted around 1930 by karl wiedmann and his team within the prestigious glass studio of the württembergische metallwarenfabrik (wmf) in geislingen/steige, germany.
freely blown and masterfully decorated with mottled glass granulate and oxides suspended between the clear glass layers, this piece exhibits the mesmerizing depth and luminous optical effects that define the ikora line.
this particular vase showcases a striking cone-like profile—a sophisticated silhouette highly favored at wmf during the height of the art deco era—complemented by a rich interplay of radiant red powders and dramatic inclusions resulting from controlled oxidation.
this model is documented and published in the standard reference work by carlo burschel and heinz scheiffele, wmf ikora & myra glass (arnoldsche, stuttgart, 2003), page 116. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
