The design is … Read more Exceptional italian postmodern floor lamp from the 1980s, distinguished by its dramatic sculptural construction and architectural presence. The design is formed from curved sheets of opaline acrylic arranged around a central fluorescent light source. The sweeping acrylic elements create an elegant spiral-like composition that changes dramatically depending on the viewing angle. Fine vertical black accents emphasize the elongated proportions and introduce a strong graphic quality characteristic of italian postmodern design of the period. When illuminated, the opaline acrylic acts as a large diffuser, producing a soft atmospheric glow across the entire structure. The circular chrome-plated metal base provides both visual contrast and stability while reflecting the sculptural elements above. Standing 117 cm (46.06 in) tall, the lamp has the presence of a luminous sculpture and works particularly well as a statement piece in a postmodern, space age, contemporary or collectible design interior.
