A striking 19th century Moroccan hexagonal pedestal tea table, beautifully hand-crafted in fruitwood and richly decorated throughout with intricate geometric inlay and parquetry.

The hexagonal top displays an exceptionally decorative arrangement of radiating geometric veneers, centred by a small hexagonal motif and framed by multiple bands of contrasting inlay. The outer border incorporates a repeated triangular design that gives the table a particularly strong Moorish character.

The six-sided pedestal base is equally decorative, with alternating dark and warm-toned woods, geometric inlaid panels and elegant pierced Moorish-arched openings. Each elevation has been individually worked, creating an attractive architectural quality when viewed from any angle.

The combination of warm fruitwood, dark contrasting timbers and pale geometric inlay gives the piece considerable visual depth. The top has been sympathetically polished to enhance the colour, grain and elaborate parquetry while retaining the character expected of a genuine antique piece.

Originally intended as a tea or occasional table, it remains wonderfully versatile and would work beautifully beside an armchair or sofa, as a drinks table, decorative pedestal or statement occasional table.
