This … Read more Rare and highly distinctive art deco floor lamp with an integrated side table, produced in czechoslovakia during the 1940s. This unusual multifunctional design combines a floor lamp and occasional table within a single sculptural structure. A continuous chrome-plated tubular metal frame rises from the circular wooden base, forms an elegant elongated loop and curves over the large spherical opaline glass shade. A circular wooden table is incorporated directly into the frame, creating a remarkably functional piece of period design suitable for positioning beside an armchair, lounge chair or sofa. The contrast between polished chrome, dark-toned wood and white opaline glass gives the lamp a sophisticated architectural appearance. Its streamlined silhouette reflects the transition from european art deco toward functionalist and early modernist design, with clear machine age influences. The large opaline glass globe softly diffuses the light and produces a warm atmospheric illumination, making the piece particularly effective as a reading lamp or ambient light. The integrated table provides convenient space for books, drinks or decorative objects. The combination of lighting, furniture and sculptural form makes this an especially unusual example of central european interior design from the period. The original manufacturer’s marking remains visible on the metal fitting. The lamp has been carefully refurbished and fitted with new electrical wiring while preserving its authentic vintage character. Minor signs of use and age remain on the chrome-plated metal and wooden elements, consistent with its 1940s origin.
