This exceptional Tiffany Studios "Colonial" table lamp was created in New York circa 1910 by Tiffany Studios, one of the most influential and celebrated American decorative arts workshops of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Founded by Louis Comfort Tiffany, Tiffany Studios became internationally renowned for its innovative approach to stained glass, Favrile glass, bronze craftsmanship, and the creation of some of the finest examples of American Art Nouveau lighting. The company’s lamps, produced during the height of the American Arts and Crafts movement, remain highly sought after for their exceptional artistry, technical mastery, and timeless beauty.
This elegant table lamp features a beautifully composed leaded glass shade in the "Colonial" pattern, displaying a harmonious arrangement of warm orange, golden yellow, and green glass panels. When illuminated, the carefully selected glass creates a rich, jewel-like effect characteristic of Tiffany Studios’ celebrated lighting designs. The shade is supported by a finely crafted patinated bronze Library Standard base, an iconic form produced by Tiffany Studios that emphasizes both functionality and refined architectural simplicity.
The shade is stamped/impressed "Tiffany Studios, New York," and the original bronze base is impressed "Tiffany Studios, New York, 333," confirming its authenticity and manufacture by the Tiffany Studios workshop. The combination of the original Tiffany glass shade, numbered bronze base, and retained original sockets makes this lamp an exceptional surviving example of Tiffany Studios craftsmanship from the early 20th century.
Measuring 19 3/4 inches high with a shade diameter of 16 inches, this lamp exemplifies the quality and sophistication that established Tiffany Studios as one of the leading names in American decorative arts. The shade is in excellent overall condition, with one barely visible hairline crack, while the patinated bronze base is in very good overall condition and retains its original sockets, with minor wear consistent with age and use. This remarkable Tiffany Studios "Colonial" table lamp remains a distinguished example of early 20th-century American lighting design and a significant addition to any collection of fine antiques, decorative arts, or Tiffany Studios works.
