Fresh from a local New York City estate, we have a great pleasure to offer you this beautiful Antique French … Read more Fresh from a local New York City estate, we have a great pleasure to offer you this beautiful Antique French Center Table that converts into a Card Game Table with a Writing Desk and Vanity Mirror lined Interior. Made in France at the end of 19th century. Table top has gorgeous parquet inlays, symmetrical on all sides, framed in by a smooth band of (gold color) bronze covering the edge, further adorned with beautiful ormolu mounts on corners. The top slides back, then it flips open and turns into a spectacular large brown felt covered card playing table. If that is not enough, the drawer on the long end of the table comes out, it is covered with brown leather, hence it serves as a surface of a writing desk. In the back of the drawer is a brass inkwell cup (other one lost to time). Furthermore the leather lines surface lifts up, and below it is a mirror to be used as a lady's vanity. This gem stands on four Louis XV style curved legs, ending in bronze sabots. Console table is in overall good condition, light use / age wear, polished recently (please see the photos). Size when closed is 28" wide, 17.5" deep, and 29.75" tall, and when you set up the card table the top is 28" x 35" long. This will be a fine useful piece that is never in the way, a good-looking conversation piece fit for traditional or mid-century modern setting ! See less
