We believe it to be a store front trade sign—there were two metal rods on the bottom (which we removed) that asserts this notion. And we love everything about it; from the carved shape of the chief—and his bow—, to the gorgeous salmon pink color—which is even prettier in person—, to the stunning patina—that only this much time could have produced. This patina is not something you can replicate, and in it you can feel the journey this chief traveled to get to us. The sculptural chief is double sided and as usual one side is always a bit better than the other. They say it's how the wind blows that causes this to occur. Not sure if that's an Indian tale...
