The … Read more A late twentieth-century Chinese teapot formed in dark unglazed stoneware with a compact cylindrical profile and restrained geometric character. The matte charcoal-black surface is accented by gilt Chinese calligraphy to one side, giving the small vessel a refined scholar-style decorative presence.

The form incorporates an angular handle, straight spout and fitted lid, all proportioned to the teapot’s compact 4.5-inch length. An impressed seal is present on the underside, adding an important maker or workshop mark to the otherwise understated surface treatment.
