Vintage " Vul-Cot" Fibre Waste Basket manufactured by The National Vulcanized Fibre Company, which was previously The American Vulcanized Fibre Company from 1901-1923 (ca. late 1920s/early 1930s). Constructed from vulcanized paper fiber—a naturally fire-resistant material made by chemically treating paper pulp to harden it, making the baskets lightweight, durable, and noiseless when bumped. This example's color is "Burma Brown," a deep, rich reddish-brown finish which was engineered to mimic the look of premium leather. Remarkably clean condition for its age with a few scuffs and interior soiling, as shown. Retains the manufacturer's label to the underside.
