This small Chinese locking cabinet from the early 20th century has a richly aged patina that only time can achieve. The little cabinet has a minimal, square-corner design with straight lines and a dark brown lacquer finish devoid of carvings or painted decoration.
The even lacquer finish is gently faded from years of use, burnished smooth along the edges to reveal the warm color of the pinewood beneath. The brass lock pin securing the doors is original and well-aged with a dark patina. Designed for general household storage, the storied chest is perfect today as a side table, vanity or nightstand.
