Brushed in cobalt blue underglaze and finished with a crackled glaze, this petite tea leaf jar exemplifies the timeless allure of Chinese blue-and-white porcelain. The small jar dates to the late 19th century and is potted to a rounded shape traditionally used for storing tea.
The sides are hand-painted with peonies and trailing vines, a motif for spring time, love and affection. Rectangular lappets decorate the base and a border of leaves encircles the neck.
