This figure depicts a seated ancestor atop a tall plank. The plank is fully carved — sides and back with crocodile guardians, the sacred crocodile locally called Aso, the dragon-dog protector of the Dayak longhouse, and the front with the Tree of Life.
All sides carved, deep weathered patina, natural age checking from years of display. A strong example of Kenyah-Kayan style with impressive height and presence. Freestanding on its flat-cut base.
Mid-century vintage in the tradition of Dayak ceremonial house posts. One-of-a-kind decorative tribal sculpture. Sourced from a private collection in the Indonesian archipelago.
