A playful 1980s ceramic vase by Canadian artist Michael Harvey, modeled with remarkable realism after a classic ribbed tank top. The soft blue-gray surface captures the folds, seams and drape of fabric, transforming an ordinary garment into a witty sculptural object in the spirit of Pop Art and trompe-l’oeil design.
The original sewn-in “Harvey” fabric label remains at the neckline, humorously identifying the piece as “Made in Canada” and “100% Clay.” Harvey is known for translating familiar everyday objects—including shirts, gloves and paper bags—into ceramic sculpture.
A fantastic example of 1980s Canadian Pop Art and Postmodern design, equally compelling as a functional vase or standalone sculpture.
