The surface is densely decorated with intricate geometric strapwork, stylized foliate and palmette motifs, and highly stylized Arabic calligraphic decoration. Contrasting copper-colored bands and pale-metal details are worked throughout the brass-toned surface, creating an exceptionally rich and intricate design.

The reverse is undecorated and unmarked, with an older soldered hanging fixture and wire for wall display. Surface patina, oxidation, wear and variations consistent with age and hand workmanship are present. Exact maker and date are unknown. Metal content has not been tested; copper and silver-colored elements are described based on appearance.
