An antique hand painted tile of the Madonna della Seggiola originally by Raphael. The original masterpiece is housed in the Palazzo Pitti in Florence It portrays the Virgin Mary holding the child Jesus, with John the Baptist reverently observing from the side. Tile is framed in a intricately carved gilt frame. These frames are so delicate it’s rare to find one intact. On back of the frame is an original label “G.H. Schicker, 21 Plaza Pitti, Florence (Italy). Also imprinted on the tile is “Firenz”. Measures Overall 13 diameter, tile 5 ¾” and 2” thick.
Very good condition, no marks or damage; see photos.
