Often referred to … Read more A wonderfully sculptural vintage hand-blown art glass pedestal bowl, attributed to Jozefina of Krosno, Poland, circa 1980s.

Often referred to by collectors as a “Jellyfish” or “Octopus” compote, the design features a broad shallow bowl elevated above an extraordinary hand-formed pedestal composed of twisting and looping strands of clear and subtly aqua-tinted glass.

The bowl is decorated in warm amber, honey and golden tones with an organic web-like pattern, creating a beautiful contrast against the fluid transparency of the sculptural stem.

Particularly striking is the construction of the pedestal, where individual strands of glass appear to twist, cross and flow into one another before meeting the broad circular foot. The result feels as much like a small glass sculpture as a functional centerpiece.

The form closely corresponds with documented Jozefina Krosno art glass examples from Poland. As this example does not retain a visible label or signature, it is offered as attributed to Jozefina Krosno rather than definitively documented.

Approximately 9" H × 8" diameter.

A beautiful example of late-20th-century Polish studio art glass and a striking centerpiece for a Mid-Century Modern, Postmodern, Organic Modern or contemporary interior. See less
