This exquisite antique Gorham sterling silver catchall dish is a beautifully crafted example of American silverwork, combining an elegant heart-shaped form with elaborate repoussé decoration and intricate pierced openwork.
The dish is richly ornamented throughout, with sweeping foliate scrolls, floral motifs, and beautifully modeled raised decoration creating remarkable depth and texture. Delicate pierced sections contrast with the heavier repoussé elements, giving the piece an airy, almost lace-like quality despite the substantial sterling construction. A polished heart-shaped central reserve provides a striking focal point and is finished with an elegant period monogram, adding to its historic character.
The scalloped, highly decorated border continues the lavish design from every angle, while the distinctive heart shape makes this piece especially appealing.
