It's a construction method built for load and longevity rather than looks, though it ends up handsome either way. The top runs a full three inches thick, the legs three and a half, giving it real presence at the head of a room. This is reclaimed solid wood, and it looks like it. You'll find honest cracks, a few small chips along the edges, and grain that shifts character from one end of the top to the other. We don't smooth that away. It's what separates a table with an actual past from one built to fake it.

It works equally well dressed up for a long holiday table or left bare on a Tuesday, stoneware and a runner doing all the talking. Seats six to eight comfortably. See less
