A vibrant screenprint by acclaimed American artist and designer Judy Kensley McKie (b. 1944), titled Endangered Cuban Crocodile.
The composition depicts a highly stylized crocodile rendered in McKie’s distinctive animal-centered vocabulary, with geometric patterning in red, green and black set against a saturated yellow ground. Undulating bands of blue, green, yellow and red form the water below, giving the work a particularly strong graphic presence.
McKie is an American artist and designer best known for her imaginative animal-form furniture, sculpture and decorative works. Her distinctive approach combines elements of fine art, craft, folk art and contemporary design, and her work is held in major museum collections.
This example is presented under glass with a salmon-colored mat, multicolored borders and a simple black frame. The printed lower margin identifies The Graphic Workshop, Boston, Massachusetts, 1985, and credits the design to Judy Kensley McKie.
