Introduced in 1986, this highly detailed character jug depicts a traditional British Guardsman wearing his iconic black bearskin and scarlet red tunic. The sculptural handle is formed as a sword draped with a red sash.

A particularly desirable feature of this example is the handwritten Michael Doulton inscription on the underside, dated “25 Dec 1986.” The inscription appears alongside the original Royal Doulton factory backstamp identifying the piece as The Guardsman, D6755, modeled by Stanley James Taylor and © 1986 Royal Doulton.
