A wooden jewelry box covered in vibrant hand-painted panels depicting figures of travelers, scholars and attendants set among trees, mountains and flowering plants and decorative sprays of fruit and foliage on the lid. The box is reinforced with dark metal corner mounts, hinges, and an elaborate scrolled hasp and latch. The lid opens to a fabric lined interior with removable tray. No maker’s mark.
