Built from reclaimed wood with a natural wax finish that keeps the honey tone of the timber intact, the Marseille trades the trestle's X-cross for two solid slab legs, full panels of wood 3 inches thick, that read as sculpture as much as support. There's no stretcher rail underneath, no crossbrace to work around when you're pulling up a chair, just a plank top milled 2.5 inches through resting on two clean planes of wood. Reclaimed timber carries its own history, so expect a small chip at an edge or a hairline crack in the grain here and there; we leave those as found rather than sanding them into invisibility. It's a quieter design than our Basque trestle tables, better suited to a room that wants one strong, simple gesture rather than a lot of visual detail. Set it under a sculptural pendant with a scatter of ceramics down the center, or let it stand nearly bare so the slab legs can do the work. It seats eight to ten comfortably.
