This is a beautiful vintage Chinese carving of a Mountain Goat (Ram), meticulously hand-carved from premium Boxwood (Huangyangmu).
The goat is depicted in a powerful, dynamic pose, with its front hooves resting on a rugged, carved rockery base. It features a magnificent pair of curved horns, a detailed beard, and textured fur that shows off the artisan's skill.
In Chinese culture, the goat (Yang) is a symbol of auspiciousness and good fortune (homophonous with "Xiang" meaning auspicious). It also represents perseverance and upward mobility.
