A substantial 9-inch hand-thrown studio pottery vessel by artist Nora, dating to the 1970s American studio craft movement.
The balanced ovoid form features a soft, matte stone-wash ground glaze subtly accented with earth-toned washes, providing an earthy canvas for deeply incised, hand-etched botanical and stylized flora motifs. Visible throwing rings along the interior and neck highlight the artist’s hand, balanced by fine glaze control and refined sgraffito/incised surface detailing. Incised signature "NORA" on the base.
Provenance & Collection Note:
Acquired directly from the private estate collection of Eve Paige Spencer, whose work is held in the permanent collection of the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery at Scripps College, California, and her husband, writer and art collector Donner Spencer, notable for its association with the 20th-century studio craft movement. Several companion works from this collection by Nora are also available—ideal for styling as an intentional ceramic grouping or curated modernist gallery vignette.
