This unusual handcrafted piece features a substantial solid-wood … Read more Vintage Middle Eastern Camel Saddle, acquired in Saudi Arabia in the 1970s. This unusual handcrafted piece features a substantial solid-wood frame with traditional leather/rawhide lashing, decorative metal studs, and detailed camel-and-rider medallions. The frame opens and closes for portability and was later used by our family as a bench.
The original thick, removable leather-covered cushion is no longer present. The wooden frame and original leather bindings remain intact and in excellent structural condition, with beautiful natural age and patina. No significant cracks, chips, or major damage are present.
Our family lived in Saudi Arabia from 1975–1984 and brought this piece home during that period. We believe it was originally a traditional camel saddle, although we cannot verify the exact date or place of manufacture.
A distinctive piece of Middle Eastern craftsmanship with a wonderful history, suitable as a decorative saddle, conversation piece, or unique rustic seating. See less
