Walnut veneer across the top, sides and drawer fronts, with the drawer fronts cut so the figure runs horizontally and continues across the pairing. Small turned brass knobs on slim brass stems, two per drawer.

the carcass sits as a separate unit on a detached underframe: a rectangular rail frame with four square-section legs, tapered on the inner faces and cut with a slight splay. The cabinet lifts clear of the frame with a visible shadow gap along the lower edge - the modular construction that gives uniflex its name, allowing carcasses to be specified with or without the stand.

the interior of the top drawer carries the printed uniflex "unit furniture" mark. A paper factory label to the underframe rail reads o/n.594 "m" range 28/1/59 - 100 mc.i. 4 dr. Chest - m/r. S-1, dating the batch to january 1959. This piece has an attribution mark,
