Striking large-scale Chinese blue and white porcelain pitcher or ewer featuring hand-painted traditional landscape scenes with pagodas, flowering trees, foliage and architectural motifs in rich cobalt blue against a white ground.
The elegant form features a tall flared body, pronounced pouring spout, graceful applied loop handle, rounded lower body and raised pedestal foot decorated with a repeating floral border. The combination of the classic blue-and-white palette and traditional Chinese landscape imagery gives the piece a wonderful Chinese Export/Chinoiserie character.
At 13.5 inches high, this is an unusually substantial decorative piece with excellent presence. Beautiful displayed on a console, dining table, mantel or incorporated into a collection of blue-and-white porcelain.
