WOW!!! Now THIS is a fine example of Scandinavian Modern MAGNIFICENCE!!! This is a GORGEOUS vintage oak dining, conference, or a pair of demi lune console tables designed in the 1970s – 1980s by Rud Thygesen and Johnny Sorensen for Magnus Olesen and Rudd International, made in Denmark. GOSH!!! Talk about a STELLAR reputation!!! The incredible half-moon oak tops bear BEAUTIFUL wood grain with contrasting borders as the wood was milled differently… creating a lovely detail and those handsome tops rest upon spectacular steam bent structural legs! And… talk about versatility!!! The design aesthetic features special connectors with capability to join the two demi-lune tables together as one OR connect the removeable center leaf. This feature allows you to utilize them as a handsome round dinner table, OR… add the leaf and you have an extra-large oval shaped dining or conference table, OR… use them separately as a pair of demi lune or half-moon style console tables!! SO many choices!! It’s perfect for a growing family, someone who loves to entertain, or take it to the office as it is definitely spacious enough to be used as a conference table. That Monday morning meeting just became a little roomier!!! And they would be fabulous utilized as a pair of console tables in your entry, living, or family room adorned with foliage, books, artwork, or a lovely table lamp! This is an artfully crafted, highly functional piece of furniture bearing a quintessential Scandinavian Modern aesthetic and a timeless presence you are sure to love for YEARS to come!!

Rud Thygesen and Johnny Sorensen both graduated for the Danish School of Arts, Crafts, & Design in 1966 and opened their own design studio that same year. While still in school they established a cooperation with Magnus Olesen. In 1971 Magnus Olesen was involved in the first models of a range of laminate furniture of which the mutual connection; both technologically and aesthetically, is apparent in aesthetic and functional design. They created multiple furniture series, mostly laminated woods and have contributed greatly to the development of molded and laminated woods and have designed some of the most prestigious Danish furniture pieces. After a 30-year successful partnership in 1995, both designers ended their partnership and went on to pursue solo careers. -Nordic Emotions

Magnus Olesen was founded in 1937 with a strong belief in Danish craftsmanship and is still a well-reputed furniture company today. They develop and manufacture functional designed furniture of high quality and durability in cooperation with today’s leading designers and architects. Since its founding Magnus Olesen has worked with such well-respected designers as Kofod-Larsen, Kai Kristiansen, Rud Thygesen & Johnny Sorensen, Niels Gammelgaard, Busk & Hertzog, and lately also Strand & Hvass & Says Who… always remaining true to its design roots while keeping up with the developments of time. Their well-established design and production company is located in Durup Denmark, and they have a gorgeous Showroom located in Copenhagen.

Rudd International was founded in 1970 by Alan Rudd and was originally located in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. The company established itself as a premier importer of Scandinavian design. The company maintained a close partnership with elite design duo Rud Thygesen and Johnny Sorensen, alongside the renowned manufacturer Magnus Olesen. By the late 1970s, Rudd began manufacturing its own contract lines alongside imports. In the 1980s, the company expanded its footprint, opening massive showrooms in design hubs like the International Design Center New York (IDCNY) and Chicago. During this era, Rudd made major waves in the corporate world with its emphasis on ergonomic movement. As they evolved, the company transitioned from Rudd International to Rudd Incorporated but after 36 years of independent operation, they sold their assets to Izzy Design in 2006. Today, their vintage pieces, particularly the pieces designed by the iconic Thygesen and Sorensen duo are highly sought after and remain highly collectible items traded on upscale furniture platforms.
