Striking signed and dated 1987 mixed-media figurative work presented in its wonderfully bold hot-pink metal frame.
The elongated horizontal composition features a rhythmic procession of repeated figures rendered primarily in black, punctuated by expressive passages of blue, yellow, green, red and pink. Torn and irregular paper edges, painterly markings and the repetition of the central figure give the work the visual quality of a film strip or sequential photographic study.
The restrained neutral matting is contrasted dramatically by the saturated pink perimeter and matching pink field immediately surrounding the artwork—a quintessentially late-20th-century presentation that feels remarkably current.
Signed and dated 1987 at lower right. Artist signature remains unidentified.
The reverse retains its vintage Lane Studios Picture Framing Service, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania label and original hanging hardware, independent archival material confirms Lane Studios was operating in Gettysburg well before this work's 1987 date.
At nearly 37 inches wide, the unusually elongated composition has substantial visual presence while retaining a low profile ideal above a credenza, console, bar cabinet or in a gallery wall arrangement.
An excellent statement piece for a postmodern, contemporary, eclectic or Memphis-inspired interior.
