Handsome 19th-century mahogany sideboard featuring extensive contrasting wood inlay, five graduated center drawers, and flanking cabinet doors.
The sideboard is exceptionally solidly constructed, including an impressive approximately 1¾-inch-thick solid wood top. The facade features geometric line inlay and decorative inlaid motifs on the doors and drawer fronts.
An unusual period feature is the internal drawer-locking system. Wooden locking pegs located inside the right cabinet secure the center drawers. Dovetailed drawer construction, substantial casework, paneled back, and thick top further reflect the quality of the construction.
The two side cabinets provide generous storage with interior shelving, has removable floor for secret hiding place
The piece retains considerable character from age and use. The top has scratches, finish wear, staining and other surface imperfections, as shown. The left cabinet door needs adjustment. Additional wear is consistent with a 19th-century piece.
