A … Read more Rare, sold-out "Trains" needlepoint tapestry designed by iconic British fashion designer Paul Smith in collaboration with The Rug Company. A monumental 65" wide, framed and ready to hang, signed within the work and again at the lower right corner.

Designed by Paul Smith and entirely handmade using traditional tapestry and needlepoint techniques. This is a long sold-out, archived limited-edition art release — no longer available at retail. Originally purchased new from The Rug Company for $2,750 around 2015. One can occasionally find Paul Smith "Love Too" needlepoint variants, which are equally large, but I have not been able to find another of his "Trains" needlepoint.

The design depicts a whimsical multi-car train packed with Paul Smith's signature color and wit: a "PS" steam engine, a First Class carriage of crowned passengers, the "Victoria / Waterloo" coaches numbered 2 and 3, a vintage motorcar, the "Smiffys" panda car, and a green "Paddington Post" mail wagon.

Dimensions: 65"W × 41.5"H × 1.5"D, in a deep navy frame.

Condition: Very good vintage condition. Frame has wear consistent with its age but looks great.
