This is a magnificent vintage Chinese Rosewood Table Screen featuring a hand-painted Famille Rose Porcelain Plaque.
The porcelain plaque is the centerpiece of this piece, depicting a lovely natural scene of a bird perched on a blooming branch, accompanied by golden pomegranates (a traditional Chinese symbol of fertility and prosperity). The painting includes a calligraphy inscription and artist seals, adding to its scholarly appeal.
The plaque is set into a beautifully carved rosewood frame and base. The base features classic "gourd-shaped" legs (Hulu Tui) and an openwork carved apron. The wood is a rich reddish-brown with a beautiful patina.
